EPA Test Drives Nissan LEAF

Nissan offered up its new Leaf EV for a test drive to automotive reporters as well as governemnt officials and those working for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

According to Detroit News: Nissan plans to sell 50,000 Leaf vehicles worldwide over the first year, with deliveries to begin late this year. Around 20,000 are expected to be sold in the United States. The vehicle can get up to 100 miles on a single battery charge.

Hertz Orders Fleet of LEAFs - Order Yours!

Its been confirmed that Hertz, the rental car company, has put in an order for its own fleet of Nissan LEAFs. 

The Nissan LEAF is Nissan's first mass-produced plug-in electric vehicle, and it has the public quaking with excitement.  Nissan is currently taking pre-orders for the 2011 model. 

Hertz will have the LEAF EV ready for customers in the United States and Europe by next year.  "We expect to have the car available in select American cities next year," said Paula Rivera, a company spokeswoman. "We're in the process of finalizing the list."
