Nissan’s Traffic Sign Recognition Technology Keeps the driver aware of road sign information
The system notifies the driver when a speed limit sign or other traffic sign is detected, keeping the driver informed of speed limit changes and other important road information.
System operation
When the system captures road sign information, via a camera*, the road sign message is shown on the multi-information display to keep the driver aware of important road information.**
* Some models provide the message from a combination of camera and navigation system data.
** Available sign detection types vary depending on model and destination.

The 2021 Nissan Murano crossover joins three other 2021 Nissan models in being awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS)1 TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation.
The Nissan Rogue, Maxima and Altima were announced in February as earning IIHS’s top safety award. All four models feature Nissan Safety Shield® 360 as standard equipment.2
The addition of Murano to the IIHS annual listing of TOP SAFETY PICK+ was the result of new ratings for headlights and pedestrian crash avoidance. Murano’s standard front crash prevention system earned “superior” ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. Murano’s standard LED headlights earned a “good” rating.
To qualify as a TOP SAFETY PICK+, a vehicle must have good ratings in all six IIHS crashworthiness tests — driver- and passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. It must also be available with a front crash prevention system that earns “advanced” or “superior” ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations and come with “good” or “acceptable” headlights across all trim levels and packages.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage from motor vehicle crashes through research and evaluation and through education of consumers, policymakers and safety professionals.

Parents know that finding the right Child restraint system (CRS) is a vital part of protecting our children on the road. Here at Nissan, we have always recognized that the safety of our passengers is at the core of everything we do.
This is why, in 2002, we started the Snug Kids® program. Snug Kids® is an industry-first initiative designed to help Nissan drivers navigate the sometimes-confusing world of CRS.
Vehicle-CRS Fit Program
Nissan safety engineers have evaluated hundreds of car seats for use in Nissan vehicles
Nissan safety engineers, certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians, have spent thousands of hours evaluating hundreds of child restraints. The CRS were installed in our vehicles, in all appropriate modes of use, including rear-facing, forward-facing, and booster.
