Nissan is elevating the performance capability of electric vehicles with its new twin-motor all-wheel-control technology called e-4ORCE. The technology provides instant torque to all four wheels to deliver balanced, predictable power and handling on par with many premium sports cars.
The “e” represents Nissan’s technologies enabled by a 100% electric motor drive system. “4ORCE,” pronounced “force,” evokes physical power and energy with “4” standing for the all-wheel control driving capability.
“The e-4ORCE twin-motor all-wheel control technology offers precise handling and stability, which gives drivers greater confidence and even more excitement than ever before,” said Takao Asami, Nissan’s senior vice president of research and advanced engineering. “This technology enables excellent cornering performance and traction on slippery surfaces and comfortable ride for all passengers.”

Delivering the power of a V6 and the fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder1, Nissan Altima’s 2.0-liter VC-Turbo™ engine is named to “Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems” list for 2020. The team behind the innovative powertrain will be recognized at a private industry event in Detroit on January 16, 2020.
Nissan’s turbocharged four-cylinder variable-compression engine leverages an industry-first production technology to achieve its goals of offering high levels of power and efficiency from the same powerplant. Monitoring driver inputs several times per second, the engine adjusts the compression ratio from 8:1 to 14:1 as needed, optimizing power and efficiency.
The range in capability is derived using a multi-link system that adjusts the length of the piston’s stroke, while adjusting the engine’s compression ratio on the fly. When the driver demands power, an internal actuator reduces the throw of the connecting rods allowing compression to drop, while tapping the turbocharger for maximum output. Conversely, during highway cruising and other low-power needs, the engine automatically adjusts to a higher compression ratio, offering a significantly higher level of efficiency.

All-New 2020 Nissan Versa Joins Rogue and Rogue Sport as Consumer Guide Best Buy Award Winners
Consumer Guideannounced the Rogue, Rogue Sport and all-new 2020 Nissan Versa as winners in its annual Automotive Best Buy Awards. The all-new 2020 Nissan Versa wins the award for the first time, with the Rogue receiving recognition for the 6th consecutive year and Rogue Sport earning its third consecutive award.
In choosing its annual winners, Consumer Guide evaluates over 150 new vehicles sold in the United States, selecting only the top vehicles in each class as Best Buys. In addition to objective ratings, a vehicle must also be “a good dollar value” compared to competitors in its class.

The model receives several updates, including new pedestrian warning sounds that also make for a catchy holiday ditty. Starting on Friday, Dec. 20, in celebration of National Go Caroling Day, the tune will be available for download via popular streaming services by searching Nissan LEAF Canto Carol.
Nissan has licensed the piece to Urban Green Lab for the holiday season; any proceeds accrued between Dec. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2020, are directly collected by the nonprofit.
The rhythms of the two new sounds from the 2020 Nissan LEAF were combined with “Jingle Bells” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” to create the first-of-its-kind holiday earworm, or “e-worm,” with a high-tech electronic feel.
