Nissan announces U.S. pricing for 2020 GT-R NISMO, GT-R Track Edition, GT-R Premium and GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition

Nissan announced U.S. pricing for the 2020 Nissan GT-R line-up, which includes three grade levels and a limited production 50th Anniversary Edition. The GT-R NISMO, Nissan's ultimate performance super sports car, goes on sale July 12 at select U.S. Nissan dealers with a starting MSRP1of $210,740. The limited-availability 2020 Nissan GT-R Track Edition, designed for owners inclined to take their GT-R to a race circuit2, is scheduled to become available August 25 with a starting MSRP1of $145,540. The 2020 Nissan GT-R Premium goes on sale July 25 with a starting MSRP1of $113,450 – with the special GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition package adding $8,500 to the GT-R Premium price. more Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices1 (MSRP) for the 2020 Nissan GT-R: GT-R Premium $113,540 USD GT-R Premium with 50th Anniversary Edition $122,040 USD GT-R Track Edition $145,540 USD GT-R NISMO $210,740 USD Destination and Handling $1,695. About the 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO The 2020 GT-R NISMO is more GT-R than ever before – it's the ultimate performance super sports car that provides an exhilarating experience for virtually everyone. New race-proven turbochargers, improved gearbox shift control, lighter components, reduced overall mass and upgrades to the brakes, wheels and tires contribute to a 2.5-second reduction in lap time around Nissan's development track. There's also an improvement of the GT-R's inherent high-speed stability, even at speeds of up to 186 mph. The 2020 GT-R NISMO's VR38DETT 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 remains the heart of the GT-R's drivetrain and is rated at 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque3. Each is handcrafted by its own takumi technician. For 2020, the GT-R NISMO features an exclusive turbocharger design – direct from the GT-R GT3 race car – with a modified turbine shape and fewer blades. This optimizes the flow rate and enhances the acceleration response by 20%, without a loss of horsepower. About the 2020 GT-R Track Edition While in previous years the GT-R Track Edition featured the 565-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine from the GT-R Premium grade, for 2020 the engine is borrowed from the famed GT-R NISMO and offers a full 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque3. In addition to the engine, key GT-R Track Edition performance enhancements (versus the GT-R Premium) include additional adhesive bonding of the body structure, a NISMO-tuned 4-wheel independent suspension, reduced weight and additional roll stiffness, wide 20-inch NISMO forged aluminum-alloy wheels with NISMO-spec tires and dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler4. Inside, the Track Edition interior includes a unique red and black color treatment with high-grip, motorsports-inspired Recaro® seats. About the 2020 GT-R Premium and All 2020 GT-R Premium grade models include a revised turbocharger tuning, burnished exhaust tips, new RAYS 20-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheel design, new headlight inner color and available "Hai Gray" premium interior with hand-stitched semi-aniline appointments. The 2020 GT-R Premium models' performance is rooted in a hand-assembled twin-turbo VR38DETT 3.8-liter V6 engine rated at 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. A Titanium exhaust system is standard, along with Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement technologies. About the GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition The special GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition is available in three heritage-era, two-tone exterior color combinations meant to represent the GT-R's liveries from the Japan GP series. Bayside (Wangan), a four-coat, double-heat treatment process ensures a vivid blue with striking highlights and deep shadows, is contrasted with white racing stripes. Blue accents on the wheel spokes are among several fine touches made to celebrate the GT-R's milestone. Pearl White with red stripes and Super Silver with white stripes round out the 50th Anniversary liveries. Inside the GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition is a special gray interior color scheme, which gives the cabin a sense of luxury, reminiscent of the atmosphere of the night sky after the twilight hour (the color is also available on select other 2020 GT-R models). Additional 50th anniversary features include unique steering wheel and shift knob trim, special embossed seats, an Alcantara® headliner with unique stitching, Alcantara®-wrapped sunvisors, and more.

What's New with the 2020 Nissan Altima

Following the introduction of a totally new generation design just last year, the Nissan Altima maintains its standing in 2020 as one of the most exciting, advanced vehicles in its class with its lean, architectural styling and confidence-inspiring driving performance. Altima again features available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive and exclusive Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies such as ProPilot Assist. Enhancements for the new model year include the addition of Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard for the Altima SR. Also new is the Driver Assist Package for the Altima S grade – making Safety Shield 360 technology standard or available across the entire 2020 Altima lineup. The 2020 Altima is offered in a choice of two powerplants, both newly introduced last model year. Standard on all grade levels is the 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct injection engine, which is rated at 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. more The 2.0-liter VC-Turbo inline 4-cylinder, the world’s first production-ready variable compression turbo inline 4-cylinder, delivers near V6-level performance with 4-cylinder fuel economy. The engine is rated at 248 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque (premium fuel) and is available on Altima SR and Platinum VC-Turbo front-wheel drive grades. Both engines are matched with a next-generation Xtronic transmission. In addition to its standard front-wheel drive, the 2020 Altima also offers available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which is available on all trim levels equipped with the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. The system uses an advanced torque split control strategy that automatically redistributes torque to the wheels (from 0:100 front up to 50:50 front-to-rear) according to road and driving conditions.

Nissan TITAN ranked top "Large Light Duty Pickup" in J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS)

The strength of Nissan's dedication to new vehicle quality showed across the board in the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) – led by the Nissan TITAN full-size pickup. TITAN was ranked not only the best performer in the "Large Light Duty Pickup" segment with 66 problems per hundred vehicles (PPH), but also tied for seventh in fewest overall problems among all 257 vehicles studied. In addition, Nissan had no models in its car, truck, crossover and SUV lineup with more than 100 PPH and performed better than the industry average for the fourth consecutive year. For 2019, Nissan moved up one spot to fifth (Non-Premium). Since the 2015 model year, Nissan has improved 35 PPH. J.D. Power measures initial quality by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership, with a lower score reflecting higher quality. more "It is rewarding to see Nissan's continuous improvement in the J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study over the past several years, and it is especially good to see TITAN and Maxima win their IQS categories for 2019," said Heath Holtz, senior vice president, manufacturing, supply chain management and purchasing, Nissan North America, Inc. "Initial quality is one important metric for our manufacturing team's performance, but the pursuit of excellence across the Nissan lineup never stops." TITAN is assembled at Nissan's Canton, Mississippi plant, with engines provided by the Decherd, Tennessee powertrain assembly plant. TITAN is powered by a 390-horsepower 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and is available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. It is offered in Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body configurations. Pricing starts at $36,680 MSRP1. Nissan Maxima was ranked first in the "Large Car" segment with 76 PPH, while the Nissan Frontier midsize pickup finished second in the Midsize Pickup segment with 95 PPH. Three popular Nissan vehicles ranked third in their categories – Nissan Versa (94 PPH), Nissan Murano (tied with 78 PPH) and Nissan Rogue (tied with 81 PPH).

Four Nissan models winners in annual economic study

Four Nissan vehicles have been named winners in the 2019 Automotive Performance Index study: Kicks, Rogue, LEAF and Versa. Each model earned recognition from the Automotive Science Group (ASG), a lifecycle data-driven research group founded by environmental policy consultancy Eco-innovations, LLC, in its annual evaluation of new vehicles in 11 different categories. The 2019 Nissan Kicks earned the distinguished "Best Economic Performance" award in the compact crossover segment. In the study, Kicks outperformed all vehicles in its class, holding claim to the lowest cost of ownership when considering purchase and operating costs across the first 6.5 years of its lifecycle (87,594 miles – the average time and vehicle miles traveled by the average new car buyer). According to ASG's study, the Kicks maintains a 36% lower cost when compared to the average compact crossover in a class of 101 model variants. more The 2019 Nissan Rogue also won the "Best Economic Performance" award in the mid-size SUV segment, in a competitive field of 184 variants. "With average fuel economy of 29 mpg combined1 – compared to a segment average of 22 mpg combined – Rogue offers a large economic and environmental performance gains over the competition," said ASG. The 2019 Nissan LEAF was named a "Best 5 All-Around Performance" award winner in the mid-large size car segment, comprised of 434 model variants. The 2019 Nissan Versa was also named a "Best 5 All-Around Performance" award winner in the small car segment of 335 model variants. "Best 5 All-Around Performance" winners are distinguished among an elite group of five vehicles in their respective segments (small cars and mid-large cars) to achieve the highest combined social, environmental and economic performance ratings, and are among ASG's top selections for 2019. In addition to their individual "Best Economic Performance" awards, Kicks and Rogue were awarded "Best 5 All-Around Performance" designations in the crossover and SUV segments respectively. About the 2019 Nissan Kicks The 2019 Nissan Kicks is designed to fit the needs of singles or couples looking for expressive styling, personal technology, smart functionality – and advanced safety features – at an affordable price. The Nissan Kicks embodies Nissan Intelligent Mobility with standard Automatic Emergency Braking and available Intelligent Around View® Monitor, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. About the 2019 Nissan Rogue The 2019 Rogue is offered in three well-equipped grade levels, S, SV and SL – each offering a highly desirable combination of compact overall size and ample interior roominess. Details such as wide opening (77 degrees) rear doors for easier entry and exit to the rear passenger space add to its utility – along with available Motion-Activated Liftgate (standard on Rogue SV and SL grades) – making Rogue the perfect vehicle for everyday use and family adventure getaways. About the 2019 Nissan LEAF Introduced just last year, the all-new second-generation Nissan LEAF continues as the embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company's approach to changing the way cars are driven, powered and integrated into society. The three key aspects of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, exemplified by the 2019 Nissan LEAF, are Nissan Intelligent Driving, Nissan Intelligent Power and Nissan Intelligent Integration. With its dynamic design and advanced technologies such as ProPILOT Assist and ePedal, Nissan LEAF continues to be the best-selling 100-percent electric vehicle in the world. About the 2019 Nissan Versa The 2019 Nissan Versa offers high value, exceptional roominess and mid-size vehicle technology without a mid-size price. Standard features include RearView Monitor, 7.0-inch color touchscreen, Streaming audio via Bluetooth® and Siri® Eyes Free, along with NissanConnect® featuring Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. It is offered in three well-equipped models: Versa Sedan S, Versa Sedan S Plus and Versa Sedan SV.

It’s not just avocado toast: American millennials love sedans

Recent research reveals that the youngest generations of car buyers – millennials and Generation Z – may have their sights set on sedans. According to a survey of American car owners commissioned by Nissan, desire for sedans remains strong. Among overall respondents who don't currently own a sedan, 78% would consider buying one, and younger respondents reported an even higher affinity for the body style. Nissan recently unveiled its latest sedan, the all-new Versa, which features an energetic new design inside and out along with technology not generally seen in the subcompact class. Last year, Nissan also introduced the all-new Altima, sporting lower, wider and more athletic proportions than its predecessor. The sixth generation Altima is the first sedan to offer Nissan's ProPILOT Assist driver assistance technology. Nissan also recently unveiled the refreshed Maxima, adding safety and convenience features along with updated styling. more "We see great opportunity in the sedan segment, which is why we're continuing to launch all-new and refreshed products," said Rob Warren, director and chief marketing manager at Nissan North America. "Sedans are still extremely popular with our customers, so as our competitors exit the category, they're creating even more prospects for Nissan." A look at sedan drivers today Nissan surveyed car owners and non-owners in the U.S. between the ages of 18 and 65 and found: • A top choice: 78% of American drivers who don't own a sedan would consider buying one now or in the future. • Choice of younger generations: 86% of those 18-34 years old (Generation Z and younger millennials) who don't own a sedan would consider buying one now or in the future. The same is true for 81% of older millennials and Generation X'ers (age 35-50). • Satisfied owners: U.S. sedan owners are just as satisfied with their cars (89%) as non-sedan owners (88%). • Function with four doors: SUVs and trucks don't have a monopoly on being seen as functional. 95% of sedan owners listed functionality as the No. 1 thing they love about their car, versus 94% for non-sedan owners. "What we're hearing from younger buyers is that they appreciate the features, versatility, fuel economy and value in our sedans," said Warren.  "Sedan design has also come a long way, as these traditional four-door cars shed their generic look, add more technology and take on a more aggressive, stylish profile. As sedans become more exciting to look at and to drive, younger buyers are putting sedans at the top of their consideration list."
