With gas prices rising and the summer road trip season here, properly inflated vehicle tires are a must. Nissan's Easy-Fill Tire Alert feature relieves the pressure of worrying about perfectly inflated tires. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), four out of five consumers are driving with improperly inflated tires – too much or too little air pressure. With properly inflated tires, those consumers could save as much as 11 cents per gallon on fuel and extend the life of a tire by 4,700 miles. In the U.S., Nissan has sold more than 5.3-million vehicles with the brand's exclusive Easy-Fill Tire Alert Technology - about 21 million tires. Standard tire pressure monitoring systems alert drivers when tire pressure is low. However, Nissan's easy-to-use Easy-Fill Tire Alert helps consumers quickly and conveniently fill their tires to the correct pressures every time without the need for a handheld pressure device or looking up the correct tire pressure numbers. How it works: • Park the vehicle in a safe location and apply the parking brake • Put the vehicle in park (automatic transmission) and the leave the ignition in the on (accessory mode) position with the engine off • Once air starts filling the tire, the exterior lights begin to flash to indicate Easy-Fill Tire Alert is monitoring the change in air pressure • When the correct tire pressure is reached, the vehicle horn will sound • If the tire is over-inflated, the horn sounds again and the hazard indicators flash three times, signaling the need to release some air In the current lineup, Easy-Fill Tire Alert is available on 12 different nameplates: Altima, Armada, LEAF, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, TITAN, Versa and Versa Note. Easy-Fill Tire Alert is one of many technologies that are part of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision – the company's approach to changing how cars are powered, driven and integrated with society. Nissan's innovative ProPILOT Assist semi-autonomous driving system has been a hit with customers, with more than 120,000 vehicles featuring the technology sold globally. The availability of ProPILOT Assist is now set to expand to additional models, including the Nissan Rogue Sport in the U.S. and the Qashqai in Canada, beginning in late 2018, as Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa said today during the company's fiscal year 2017 financial results announcement. The Rogue, including the Rogue Sport, is Nissan's top-selling nameplate in the U.S. market. more ProPILOT Assist is a hands-on driver-assist system that helps drivers stay centered in their lane, navigate stop-and-go traffic and maintain a set vehicle speed and distance to the vehicle ahead. Nissan's exclusive ProPILOT Assist technology was originally introduced in 2016 in the Japanese-market Nissan Serena minivan. Since then, the technology has spread globally to vehicles such as the 100% electric new Nissan LEAF, the European-market Qashqai, the Japanese-market X-Trail and the U.S.-market Rogue. ProPILOT Assist will also be featured on the upcoming all-new 2019 Nissan Altima sedan. Additional vehicles will adopt the technology in coming years, expanding to 20 models and 20 markets by the end of FY2022, as part of the company's midterm plan, Nissan M.O.V.E. to 2022. "ProPILOT Assist is an iconic technology for Nissan Intelligent Mobility, Nissan's vision of how vehicles are powered, driven and integrated into society," said Philippe Klein, Nissan's chief planning officer. Nissan's global electric vehicle sales jumped 10% last fiscal year, driven by growing customer demand for the zero-emission Nissan LEAF, the world's best-selling EV. The 100% electric car posted robust growth across all the major electric-vehicle markets – Japan, Europe and the U.S. – in the fiscal year that ended March 31. Demand is expected to keep rising as customers embrace the new, second-generation Nissan LEAF, which offers increased range and new, advanced technologies. Sales of the redesigned model, introduced in October 2017, are gaining traction in Japan and the U.S. The all-new LEAF is set to go on sale in more new markets this fiscal year, including Latin America and the Asia & Oceania region. more "The strong performance of Nissan's EV models globally is a testimony to our expertise and leadership in electric vehicle technology," said Nissan Executive Vice President Daniele Schillaci, who heads the company's electric-vehicle business. The all-new Nissan LEAF comes with a host of advanced technologies and features, including ProPILOT autonomous driving technology (ProPILOT Assist in the U.S.), ProPILOT Park and e-Pedal, as well as increased power and range. The new Nissan LEAF will soon be launched in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Uruguay. The new Nissan LEAF received a 5-star safety rating from the Japan New Car Assessment Program in February. The model's ProPILOT autonomous driving technology helped it score 94.8 points out of a possible 100 for occupant safety in a collision. Other features that contributed to the rating include its highly rigid body structure, six SRS airbags, seats with enforced headrests and back frames, and seat belts with pre-tensioners and load-limiting capabilities for the front and rear outboard seating positions. The new Nissan LEAF was also named "2018 World Green Car" by the World Car Awards in March.
